In general, All Children – All Families (ACAF) training provides an excellent way for agencies to improve their recruitment and retention of lesbian, gay, bisexual, and transgender (LGBT) adults to foster and adopt youth in care.
Want to increase the number of foster and adoptive applicants at your agency, perhaps by as much as 10-15%?
Put another way, what would it mean for your foster and adoption placement rates if there was a significant increase in the numbers of applicants who came to your agency to explore foster care or adoption? Even more, what would be the impact if those increasing numbers of applicants went on to become highly effective foster and adoptive parents?
Over the past 20 years, many child welfare agencies have completed extensive training on sensitivity and appropriate behaviors with respect to race, ethnicity and gender. So many advances have been made to undo racism and gender-based decision making in this field. ACAF provides an excellent format for making similar strides with working with LGBT clients who come to you to explore foster care or adoption.
With the addition of Module 5 - LGBTQ Youth - ACAF Training now provides educational tools for working with youth in care.
