The research could not be more clear: youth ages eight and older have a tough time getting out of the child 
welfare system once they enter the system. They are frequent victims of the pinball effect which is when a youth bounces back and forth from one placement to the next on a repeated basis.
Children over the age of eight need and deserve the love and stability of a permanent family every bit as much as younger children.
The Downs Group, LLC believes that the hardest work of child welfare consists of services to youth over age eight in the welfare system. We want to help these older youth achieve their goals and successfully integrate into society as adults.
